9/18/06  The St. Simons High School and Ludington High School classes of 1956 held their 50th year Reunion over the weekend of September 15-16-17, 2006 in Ludington.  Check out the picture link for each event!

Events included:

On Friday evening September 15, we had a Get Re-Acquainted gathering at the home of Caryl Barnett Ferguson.  It was a wonderful, very enjoyable evening of socializing along with great drinks and super snacks. Pictures

Early Saturday morning we had a Fun Run/Walk from Scottville to Ludington.  Janelle Verboam Schade, Jack Madsen and Vic Jackson completed the 7 mile course to prove we are not as old as the calendar might indicate.

A Saturday, 12 Noon “Picnic on the PM” was presented at Suttons Landing Park on the Pere Marquette River.  What a treat to have a catered picnic. No ants, no dirty dishes, a very picturesque setting and the food was outstanding. Pictures

Saturday afternoon was reserved for Golf at Lakeside Links. The duffers among us enjoyed a 9 Hole challenge of a best ball scramble. Perfect weather and a great golf course combined to make it a memorable occasion. Pictures

On Saturday evening, approximately 60 classmates and their spouses gathered for a Reunion dinner at the Stearns Motor Inn in Ludington.  A very special guest was 85 year old Hal Madden, who was athletic director, gym coach, mentor and teacher for all of the LHS class of 56 when we were in high school.  During the evening program there was lots of laughter, a few tears, some very poignant moments and most of all, a chance to meet and greet those classmates from 50 years ago. A highlight for all was having the classmates introduce themselves by passing around the wireless microphone. We closed out the evening with a silent auction to raise money for the Scholarship Fund and a DJ dance featuring tunes from the 50’s. Pictures

Sunday morning, September 17, Marcia Christensen Sadler hosted a breakfast brunch at her home in Riverton Township. It was great food and great company. Sadly, we all had to say our good bye’s and close out the 50th Reunion celebration.
